Flat or Pleated Pants?

Question:
I am relatively short, 5' 8" but weigh about 210. Would a pant with a pleated front look better or a flat front? I am also 72 years old. Thanks for the help!

Reply:
I would recommend the pleated model. It will give you a little more room and it will do a better job of hiding the little bulge in the center.

Formal/Casual Wedding Attire

Hi,

I have been looking at your web site this morning and I am very impressed. My son is getting married this April 29, 2006. He does not want to wear a tux. He wants to wear something very casual and we are all very upset with that decision. The wedding is at a resort hopefully outside in the evening. Would you please help us by giving us some advice about what he could wear. Feeling casual but look elegant.

Thanks for your help.
B.J.

--------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot begin to tell you how often we are requested to arbitrate the choice of clothing at a wedding. I will outline my personal beliefs for deciding what the groom should wear.

The bride always should set the tone for what the groom and the wedding party should wear. If she is dressed in a traditional, elegant dress, the groom should compliment her and certainly not dress in anything less than a dark suit. If her clothing is less elegant then the groom should take his cue from her. The choice of attire for the wedding party should also be based on the tone set by the bride.

Many grooms who opt to wear a tux ask us to choose a vest for them which they can wear without the jacket when the fun begins. The vest although elegant can take on a little bit of flash and give the groom a fun look and feel. The vest can match the wedding colors.

Tell your son that he will be looking at the pictures of the wedding with his wife and kids 25 years from now. He shouldn't wear clothing that he will have to make excuses for then. A groom should be the most elegant man at the wedding. If the groom is casual it will be akward for guests who will be dressed up unless the wedding invitations call for casual attire.

2 or 3 button suit for a job interview?

Question:
should I wear a 2 or 3 button suit for a job interview at a conservative financial services firm?

Reply:
Either style is fine. Stick to navy or dark grey. Plain shades are safe but you can consider a soft pattern, particularly a stripe. Do not wear a shocking tie and wear a soft blue shirt.
