Dressing for the FBI
Question:
I was wondering what might be the best look for going into the FBI. Any advice would be great. Thank you
Reply:
Want to get into the FBI, get yoursef a good leather holster with a quick release and watch the movie The Men in Black. Seriously, the FBI are looking for team players so dress accordingly. At the inerview stage wear a classic dark suit, preferably navy or dark grey in a plain shade or with a soft design. Match appropriately classic accessories.
Are your suits Shatnez free?
Question:Are the suits on your site Shatnez free?
Reply:The fabric contents of all items placed on ExecStyle.com are reviewed to ensure that they do not contain a mixture of wool and linen. We also request from manufacturers the contents of trimmings, canvas and other internal components of garments on our site.
This, however, is not a guarantee that the garment is shatnez free. Labeling laws in Canada and the US allow mills the freedom of not disclosing trace amounts of fibers in a fabric. For our concerned customers we will gladly have a reputable individual check their garments for shatnez. We will gladly put concerned customers in touch with our shatnez authority upon request.
What is in a Designer name?
Question:
what designer is the most sought out designer for designer suits for men?
Response:This is a difficult question to answer. There are designers in various price categories and qualities. If I would have to pick a designer whose name is synonymous with high quality men's suits and is respected by almost everyone I would say Canalli would be the most sought after designer.
Remember the major designers who are household names sell their names to manufacturers and often have very little involvement with the final product you are purchasing. Designers are courted by different manufacturers and usually sell their names to the organization that will give them the highest sell through and the greatest royalty revenue. The name can be used by one manufacturer one year and by another the next removing the continuity one would expect from a garment with a brand or designer name.
The best way to choose a suit is to rely on a reputable retailer who understands your requirements and knows the strengths and weaknesses of all his products. He will be able to steer you to the suit that is right for you. We will happily do that for you as we have done for thousands of customers over the last fifty years.
Suggest a Shirt
Question:my husband likes a little more spread but not as much as a traditional spread. Monograms and fine cotton. Any ideas?

An Overcoat's Warmth
Question:Is gabardine in an overcoat warm as compared with wool? Thank you!
REPLY:
The warmth or insulation characteristics in a coat are created by the amount of insulating air bubbles that the fabric can trap. In general a fluffy, softer fabric will trap more air than a high twist and stiffer fabric, and will consequently be warmer. Gabardine refers to the weave, not the fabric type, however gabardine is usually a tight weave not commonly known for its warmth. Cashmere and angora are among the warmest natural fabrics you will find.
Matching your partner - 2
Question:
I would like to match my wife at an upcoming event. She is wearing a black dress with various shiny/siver bits etc, but core dress is black. Is a charcoal suit for me a no no against her black dress? I have a black I could wear but it is not quite as nice as my charcoal one. Also what shirt/tie combo would you recommend for either suit colour option. THANKS HEAPS!!
Reply:
Why is it that we always have to match them? I have never gotten a note from a wife asking me how she should dress to match her husband :)
In any case, as she is wearing a black dress with silver trim, I assume that you are going to a formal event. A black suit would be the right choice. To be super elegant coordinate with a white shirt and a silver or silver and black tie.
Shopping for a Big Suit
Question:
I am a big man, I have a 62-64 coat and a 54 pant, my shoulders are 70 inches around, and I am only 5'8" tall. What type of suit would you recommend. I am interested in a 6-button but not sure.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Reply:
Dear Sir,
Choosing the right suit for any size man takes some thought. I believe from your description that the best style for you would be a single breasted 2 button model. This model will be cooler as it has it covers less of your body and will make you look taller because of the longer V shape where the jacket opens in front. I would recommend dark fabrics that are plain or have a very subtle pattern or a fine stripe.
Cancun Wedding
Question:
What should the groom wear for a Cancun wedding. We are on our second marriages. We want this to be nice but not completely formal. Please advise

Reply:
Remember that when you are dressing for your wedding you are not only dressing for the moment. The wedding pictures will stay with you forever and they will be among your most important memories which you will hopefully show to children and grandchildren.
Let me know what type of wedding you are planning i.e. a beach wedding, inside a catering hall, what is the bride wearing, how do you expect guests to dress, how many guests will you have, when is the wedding - time of day and year etc. With these details I will gladly help you dress your man.
Suspenders?
Question:
are suspenders still in style?
---------------------------------------------
Reply:
Suspenders are not part of the current fashion rage. That does not mean that they cannot be included in your own personal expression of personal style - like the fellow that wears a bow tie rather than a tie or the man who completes his jacket with a pocket square. These fashion accessories that are an element of personal style rather than the fashion trend of the day sets the individual apart.

Off The Shelf Suits Alternatives
Question:
I am 22 and have a 44 long jacket size and a 32 waist 34 inseam -- can I buy a suit off the shelf --- obviously the pants are too large as is the abdominal part of the jacket
-----------------------------------------------------------
Reply:
If you wish to buy a suit off the shelf I recommend that you try one of our suit separates by Calvin Klein or Ralph Lauren. When you purchase a suit separates you can buy the pant and jacket separately in the size that you need. This is meant for athletes, body builders and also guys who are a little fuller in the center. If the jacket is a little large in the abdominal area you can have it taken in by a tailor. To see our suit separates just click on this link
http://www.execstyle.com/Suit_Separates.aspYour other alternative which would be slightly more expensive but will give you the best results is to have a custom suit made up. Give us a call if this option is of interest to you.
Can I keep ties tied for an extended period of time?
Question:
Is it OK to keep ties tied for an extended period of time? Sometimes it takes me 2 or 3 times to get the exact length I want, and it would seem to be easier to leave it tied once I have the proper length, as long as it doesn't ruin the tie. Thanks.
Reply:
The theory is that if you leave your tie knotted for an extended period, it will eventually start to twist and turn and will not hang properly. In practice, this will happen in some but not all cases. When you keep a tie knotted it will certainly become flattened in the area of the knot and you will lose the fullness in the shape. The best advice is to undo your tie when you have finished with it for the day. Always be gentle with it as tie fabrics and construction are often delicate. Hang or roll your ties for storage.
Matching a Beige Wedding
My fiance and I are getting married in Jamaica in January. He will be wearing a tan suit with cream pinstripes. I will be wearing an ivory gown with silver embroidered lace and lavender accent flowers. We aren't sure what colors he should wear under the suit or what color shoes. I had originally hoped we could coordinate our looks in some way, but now I'm not sure how. Any suggestions?
---------------------------------------------------------------
Your groom can wear accessories in colors that are drawn from the accent colors of your dress. His shirt can be cream or lavender and the tie should include a darker shade of lavender or purple. He can also wear a flower in his lapel that is either cream or lavender surrounded with a touch of green foliage. I would suggest he wear beige shoes so that the contrast between the shoes and the suit is not too strong. Should you need any further assistance, please do not hesitate to call on us.
Tie clips?
Question:
I'm looking for a gift for my husband who will be going for job interviews soon. Do men still wear tie clips or tie tacks? Are they fashionable, geeky, a nice touch or what? Thanks!
---------------------------------------------
Reply:
Tie clips, pins etc. are practical accessories and add a touch of class to an outfit. They are not considered in the realm of high fashion accessories. Consider them as you would a bow tie, an item that highlights the style of the man wearing it. Bow ties are not the height of fashion but they do make a statement about the man and can be considered his signature.
Unless your husband needs or wants to differentiate himself style wise I recommend that he does not wear any superflous items that may detract attention from him during the course of an interview.
