Dress to Impress

Question:

What shirt and tie would go best with a Navy pinstripe suit for print modeling? I favor a red tie.

RESPONSE:

To give you the most complete and definitive answer you should tell the purpose of the print and who your target audience is.

Follow-up:

The print ad I will be in is as a real estate broker owner and the target market is high end real estate sellers.

Do you still go with the red tie? What color shirt should I wear?

RESPONSE:

When you are selling real estate, particularly high end, expensive properties, you want two attributes to jump out at your potential customers:
1. trustworthiness
2. expertise

To accomplish this wear classic clothing that is not trendy. Do not wear anything that screams out from the picture. Do not wear anything that takes away attention from you. The focus should be on you not your clothing. Wear a nice navy or grey suit with a soft stripe. The shirt should be a pale blue. Do not wear a dark shirt or any wild designs. The tie should have a larger design that will not cause static on the picture and the colors should be soft and subdued. Combine blue, grey, perhaps a little burgundy or red - just make sure the tie does not scream out.
