Blazer vs Sport Coat

Question:

What is the distinction between a blazer and a sport coat? Which is more in fashion now?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The difference is subtle and often the terms sport coat and blazer are used interchangeably. Generally, a blazer is a classic jacket in a solid color most often navy or black. Blazers often have metal buttons resembling military uniforms. In terms of fashionability, the blazer I have described is a classic garment and has been in style as long as I can remember and I expect this trend to continue. Sport jackets can be classic or trendy or dressy or very casual depending on your choice of jacket and how you accessorize it.

The best way to make a decision on what to buy is by assessing your intended uses and buying a jacket that suits your purpose. I will gladly help you make the right choice if you let me know where you intend to wear the jacket.

Best regards,
Leo Green
